2021 was the inaugural year of the F&MAD Film Fest Asia and what a great first year it was! The festival featured 16 original creations from U Asia Campus students working with multiple genres and subject matter. Watch the videos below to catch a glimpse of some of this year's highlights.

Minjae Kim's film The Pain Killer won this year's JURY PRIZE and the award for BEST SCREENPLAY. As Minjae describes his film, The Pain Killer is "a journey of a depressed protagonist seeking to kill her inner pain. The samsara of her emotions is like the cycle of water (the tide)."
Written by Boryeong Lee and Directed by Dayeon Choi, Becca Benny, and I was this year's AUDIENCE CHOICE AWARD winner. The film deals with the issue of dissociative identity disorder resulting from grief and garnered an award for Jeewoo Lee for BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY.
Written and Directed by Sujin Kim, Sardine is the story of Eojin, a sardine who returns to Korea and who must assimilate to the human world. The film was nominated for multiple awards including Jury Prize, Screenplay, and Best Performance (Khee Park) and won the award for BEST DIRECTOR.
Written, Directed and Co-Edited by Yeryeong Shin, Connection addresses the issue of social isolation through a surrealist romance. The film won awards for BEST EDITING (shared with Seyoung Park) and BEST PERFORMANCE (Jihyun Lee).
Hosted by U Asia Campus student Yubeen Lee and UAC alumnus Susan Park, the 2021 F&MAD Movie Awards announced the nominees and winners for Screenwriting, Cinematography, Editing, Performance, Directing, Jury Prize and Audience Choice.
