Beauty is almost always viewed in a positive manner. Sometimes mundane and sometimes untouchable, beauty itself is one of the elements that we constantly discuss and look up to. The main protagonist (Seonwoo) of this film however, despites beauty. Not knowing the origin, the concept of beauty has always been an uncomfortable factor for her, naturally creating a strong belief: 'beauty is despicable'. Ironically Seonwoo is an art student surrounded by beautiful paintings, which she finds her way of maintaing her belief and coping with beauty by creating small fractions in her own paintings. Yet, no matter how strong one's belief is, there is always room for cracks. For Seonwoo, the crack is introduced by her friend, Eunha.
With Eunha's presence, Seonwoo's lifetime belief about beauty starts to crack, creating confusion and internal chaos. Through those cracks, Seonwoo grows. In this film, the introduction of one's belief, destruction, and growth is illustrated metaphorically and poetically by the comparison of flowers. The different chapters shown in the film not only consists a meaning of growth, but also one's feeling towards another individual that may not be typically viewed in the society. Incoperating both theatrical and film/media elements, the film 'flowerish' is a combination of flower and flourish, introducing one's coming of age through storytelling and visual contents.

Traveling and living in other countries, Haeun Lee persued her education in various fields. With those educational experiences, she was able to figure out her true interest: Art. This allowed her to work in the theater industry which provided a chance to be part of the industry at a young age. Eventually, she decided to focus and learn more about acting and producing, leading her to pursue her passion as a film and media art major at the University of Utah. Having the experience of both producing films and operas, she incorporated the artistic elements of both genres to produce her first directed film 'Flowerish'.
